Propertymark ARLA Technical Award & NAEA Technical Award Training to Level 3

technical award trainingYou will remember that in early 2018 the Housing Minister Heather Wheeler MP announced that all agents in Residential Letting & Management, Residential Sales and Auctioneers of Residential Property will now have to have a recognised Industry Standard Qualification. This has now moved forward with the release of the white paper in June 2019 by the working group headed up by Lord Best. The intention is for (what I would call) field staff who deal in what they call “reserved activities” to be regulated individually as well as part of the  agency and to be qualified to Level 3 standard (the equivalent of “A” Level), “reserved activities” include: conducting viewings, market appraisals, negotiating with and on behalf of clients, signing contracts, and providing direct advice to clients. Directors and Owners of the company will have to be Level 4 (the same status of achievement as a degree). The government are looking to have this fully implemented by 2021 and so agencies will need to have everything in place by then.

At Carrfield we agree that this will strengthen the standards of our industry and have put together training courses to help agents through the process of becoming qualified. Following the Manchester Open Learning (MOL) workbook we teach the Technical Award in The Sale of Residential Property & The Technical Award in Residential Lettings and Management, which means that once you have taken the 4 exams for sector you work in and have passed, then you will qualify to become a member of either Association of Residential Letting Agents or The National Association of Estate Agents allowing you to use either MARLA or MNAEA after your name. Our courses are delivered by experienced trainers who have worked in those fields so not only will you get a better understand of the training material, but also of the legislation. This is a good time for agencies and their staff to take these qualifications and get ahead of the game before legislation changes and you are made to by law.
